Ingredients
Black channa | ¾ cup |
Onion | 2 big |
Red chillies | 7 |
Coriander seeds | 3 tsp |
Cumin seeds | ½ tsp |
Fennel seeds | ¼ tsp |
Pepper | 4 |
Garlic (minced) | 6 cloves |
Shallots | 3 |
Cococnut | ¼ cup |
Ginger (minced) | ½ inch |
Salt, oil, curry leaves |
Method
1. Soak channa for 8 hours. Pressure cook for 8 whistles.
2. Heat oil in a pan, fry red chillies, coriander seeds till ¾ th done. Then add fennel seeds, cumin, pepper, garlic (3 cloves), shallots and fry till done.
3. Add oil in a pan, fry coconut well. Grind all fried ingredients and make fine powder.
4. Heat oil in a pan, fry curry leaves, ginger and garlic. Fry well. Add onion and fry well. Add ground masala and fry well.
5. Reduce flame and add water and boil till raw smells go away. Add cooked channa, salt and turmeric powder. Boil well.
